Story Inspiration

By Adam Bush on November 1, 2017

This is one of my favorite stories I’ve ever found on the internet. Here’s what I love about this story.

It’s Extremely Interesting

I almost feel like I’d like this even if it wasn’t shot and edited well. It’s just an interesting concept, the idea that a couple would live off the grid and off the land. I think the storytellers do an amazing job of pulling out some really unique elements. I like knowing he built the entire place without power tools, I like seeing their garden and I’m really interested in how he fishes inside his home. The two “to-do’s’” I pull out for myself are STAY ON THE HUNT FOR THE INTERESTING PREMISES and PULL OUT WHATEVER IS INTERESTING ABOUT MY STORY.

It’s Short

That’s one of my favorite things about Great Big Story. They keep their videos short. If your story is bordering on 6, 7 or 8 minutes, chances are its too long. Let’s set it up, get to the tension, release and get out of there. As a storyteller, I can find myself easily being too long winded. I lose the audience when I do that.
